Senate Bill 1953 Seismic Safety Compliance Management

Past Project Successes

Sutter Health, NPC2 Compliance

The Stahl Companies was hired in 2000 to assist this major California healthcare system in achieving the first milestone of Senate Bill 1953 seismic compliance for all of its California affiliates. Stahl determined the division of the extensive amount of work to the appropriate design professionals, facilitating the development and approval of the construction documents and then similarly contracted and managed the construction to bring each facility into NPC2 compliance on time and within budget.

Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, NPC3 Compliance

At SVMH, TSC is currently working on the Define portion of the Define, Design, Comply approach. Our objective is to get the facility as close to their NPC compliance goals as possible based on past work completed throughout the facility. The Stahl Companies is working diligently to close open projects and receive NPC credit for work completed, as well as determining opportunities where projects were closed non-compliantly yet have enough scope relative to NPC to warrant reopening the projects and closing them compliantly in order to gain credit for the work that was completed. This effort will ultimately reduce the scope of future work necessary to become NPC3 compliant, saving the hospital both time and money.

USC NPC3 Compliance

Stahl Companies was brought on board at USC University Hospital to undertake the completion of properly closing 36 previously "Closed without Compliance" projects. This was achieved by working closely with OSHPD to determine the missing components required to close these projects compliantly and by working with the architects and contractors to obtain the missing documentation and providing it to OSHPD in a format that enabled them to close the projects with compliance. The successful completion of this project allowed USC University Hospital to take full advantage of these projects and their potential NPC3 value.
