Creating and contributing to a sense of community is important to The Stahl Companies. We believe that we are all part of a shared social fabric and should aim to lift everyone up.

For the past six years, I’ve had the opportunity to belong to a leadership team that plans summer day camps for kids. Each year we welcome thousands of kids for an unforgettable week of day camp. During this time the kids participate in activities like messy art, go-carting, zip lines, and a ton of other events that they may only experience at camp. One of the highlights of the four weeks of camps for me is the opportunity to invite children from local Section 8 housing, transitional housing, and various economically challenged communities. These children get to attend free of charge and experience a week of camp that reminds them why being a kid is so much fun.

2021 was a highlight year for me because after doing this for so many years I got to experience something special. After the years of outreach to the communities I mentioned above, three of the “kids” who took part in the program early on returned to the camp as leaders bringing kids from their community to share the experiences they so fondly remembered. Seeing this reminded me just how important it is to give back and lift others up because once you do, you initiate a cycle that can influence others for many years to come.
