The Power of TEAM = The Power of FAMILY

April 10, 2020

It seems more than a little ironic that April is Stress Awareness Month, wouldn’t you say? At The Stahl Companies, our Leadership Team has been using time typically committed to commuting and travel to attend a few free webinars offered through The Table Group (Patrick Lencioni’s Team).

As you may know, Patrick Lencioni is known for creating a very successful model for building workplace teams.

In his book, “The Three Big Questions for a Frantic Family”, he shares his personal revelation of how his strategies to build workplace teams easily crosses over into building stronger families. This principle is even more timely now that many of us find ourselves working and schooling from home while trying to reduce stress, and ultimately bring our family closer together.

Here are the Big Questions we are now pondering:

  1. What makes my family unique?
  2. What is my family’s priority (or you might say “rallying cry”) right now?
  3. How can my family discuss and practice the answers to the above questions?

Below are some tips to help you cope with stress before it gets out of control:

  • Exercise – Even 20-30 minutes a day of walking is a great stress reliever and a good way to get your mind off your daily worries.
  • Relaxation – Learn to incorporate some relaxation techniques into your daily life. Meditation, journaling, yoga and breathing exercises are just a few ways to find a moment of escape and to reduce those stress hormones.
  • Laugh a little – Even when you don’t feel like it, carve out some time to spend doing something you enjoy that will make you laugh. Spending quality time with family and friends, or simply watching your favorite sit-com can often be just the distraction you need. Making some time for fun is an important part of your overall health.

At The Stahl Companies, over the last few weeks, we’ve set up a virtual Stahl Water Cooler through MS Teams to share our daily triumphs, trials, and especially rib-ticklers.
